Beverly Hills High School's Troubling Decline

Beverly Hills High School's Troubling Decline

The first step toward revitalizing our city's schools is an honest assessment of how far we've fallen. Beverly Hills schools were once the envy of the region.

In 2003, for example, Newsweek ranked BHHS in the top 200 schools in the entire nation.

But that is no longer true. Today U.S. News ranks us as #166 among Los Angeles, CA Metro Area High Schools (below Santa Monica High, Culver City High, and Pali High).

The detailed breakdown for BHHS looks even worse:

Other rankings for BHHS are similarly grim.

BHHS currently has 3.1 stars out of 5 on GreatSchools.org. This isn't a scientific study, of course, but it's worth noting that SaMo High (4 out 5 stars) and University High (4 out of 5 stars) fair better.

The official California School Dashboard doesn't rank BHHS as "very high" in any category, including College/Career, Mathematics, or English Language Arts.
